Technical Visits

The Congress participants may choose from our site visits to the different producers in and around Prague, organized on September 18, 2019 from 13:30 – 18:00

Site Visit A: ČESKOMORAVSKÝ  CEMENT
(HeidelbergCement Radotín)

Departure from the Conference Venue will be at 13:30 from the entrance No. 10, the excursion will last approx. 4 hours, return to the Conference Venue at 18:00.

HeidelbergCement is the market leader in the supply of high-quality cement, aggregates, and ready-mixed concrete. HeidelbergCement has been developing its activities in Czech Republic  since 1991.
Českomoravský cement, its subsidiary, is one of the most important cement producers in Czech Republic. The company operates two cement plants producing various types of high-quality cement.
The Radotín plant produces cement by using dry process. Visitors will have a chance to see most important steps for cement production – crushing, milling and homogenization of raw material, burning process - production of clinker and final process for cement grinding. We can also show the system for security of quality in all production steps, system for environmental protection and development in control system Siemens - CEMAT.
The year 1871 was a very important year for Radotín, which was a village with 300 inhabitants, 36 houses, a school and a church only. This year, a group of Czech entrepreneurs under the guidance of Ferdinand Bárta, founded the Prague Joint-Stock Factory for the Hydraulic Production of Cement. This plant operated till 1963.
In 1958, the Government of the Czechoslovak Republic approved the construction of the new cement plant, with an annual capacity of 452,000 tons of clinker and 610,000 tons of cement. The new plant has been producing cement since 1961.
Heidelberger Zement, a.g. privatized plant in 1990 under the new name of Pragocement. In 1995, Pragocement merged with Královodvorská cementárna a. s. and Cement Bohemia was established, and, in 1998, this was fused with the joint-stock company Cementárny Mokrá. This has resulted in the establishment of Českomoravský cement, which is currently one of the biggest companies of its kind in the Czech Republic.

Site Visit B: METROSTAV GROUP

Departure from the Conference Venue will be at 13:30 from the entrance No. 10, the excursion will last approx. 4 hours, return to the Conference Venue at 18:00.

The excursion is focused on the largest construction in the city centre of Prague "Optimization of the Prague-Hostivař railway line - Prague Main Station focusing on concrete structures, especially bridges.
Metrostav is the largest Czech construction and engineering company, 45 years in business, and the third largest construction group in Central and Eastern Europe. The company operates in 15 European countries and uses its own unique technical know-how and technology. It supports the development of materials and technologies that minimize the use of natural resources. Metrostav Group has 5,000 employees, 1,200 qualified labourers.
